Hyksos WIP

Thought I would show work in progress for Hyksos army. It is kind of Clash of Empires meets Basic Impetus in army size. Gaming buddies are very much into Clash of Empires and have plenty figures in many periods for large armies. I love Impetus style basing and nice army sizes. Opens up many periods and armies without too much money and painting etc. Agreement is 1000 point armies using Clash of Empires using cutting minimum and maximum unit sizes and break numbers by 50%. Result is fine size army that should still give decent game and easily altered for Basic Impetus if required. This army is pretty close to what I would put on for Basic Impetus. Still looks like an army to me and of course allows some gaming company when I get the chance to game. Figures are all Cutting Edge with a Castaway Arts in there somewhere.

Burmese Command Elephant

I know it is not chariot period but did not want to start another blog. The next best thing on a wargames table has to be elephants. Here is one of the new Curteys new 28mm Medieval Burmese. Great start to an interesting new range. Burmese armies had sometimes had 2000 elephants in their armies!!!

Hittite Spear

Horns blow frantically and leaders scream to keep the Hittite phlanx in order. Surrounded by Egyptian chariots the men begin lose cohesion as arrows cut them down like wheat. The Hittite chariots must regroup or bloody slaughter will follow!!!

Middle Kingdom Egypt Bowmen

Out on desert patrol the dogs sense a nearby threat.  Nubians must be close and the bowmen are to ready to loosen off some arrows.  Life on the frontier is tough.  If death does not come from a Nubian arrow then thirst and fatigue is next in line.
This next Impetus style base is based on pictures from Ospery "Soldier of the Pharaoh".  Figures are Cutting Edge and dogs Black Hat(too big I suppose) adding a little character to the base.  These figures offer an interesting change the more commonly seen New Kingdom Egypt figures.

Akkadian Army

Here is nice battle ready army of Akkadians.  Looking at the those 3 captives in 2nd photo I don't think taking prisioners is an option.  Add another spear unit it can be a full basic impetus army that looks good without costing a fortune.  These are alll Cutting Edge with Bears Den bull/sacrafice viginette.

Akkadian Platform Car

Here is a great warrior general in the army of Sargon the Great.  The plafrom car would it seems normally have single crewman but as I could fit 2 I could not resist.  Another fantastic 28mm model from Cutting Edge Miniatures.

Akkadian Bow

Here is an Impetus style base of Akkadian archers sporting the powerful composite bow.  These can also be Mitanni or Hammurabic Babylonia bowmen also.

I decided to give them a bit colour being household regular type infantry.  This also helps to contrast the earlier Sumerian armies.
