It is a very nice model indeed. Lovely painting job!! I'm very tempted, for a small skirmish army. I saw a comment you made at TMP about "Chariot Rampant". Do you have a balanced list for these to be adapted to Lion Rampant?
EinarOlafson...thanks. Great models to paint. Would love to your work on these. I really like your painting tones and style for this period. As each city state differed I imagine you can play around with list by adding archers for more northern cities etc. Starter list below gives a good balance of typical Sumerian Army.
1x Heavy Chariot-6pts 2x Spearmen-8pts 1x Royal Guard(axemen figures)-6pts 2x Skirmishers-4pts
The Royal Guard can be replaced with 6pts Expert Spearmen if desired. Skirmishes can be sling, javelin or bow. Axemen and javelin coming soon from CP Miniatures and likely some Gutian barbarians for skirmishes or Warbands. I like the look of Spearmen 3 deep with 2 rows of shield. I normally expect studded cloaks not to have shields. However it does look very good and is possible with so little evidence remaining. What I am sure of is they look great. I like the look of 2 heavy chariots but 1 is ok too if budget and time tighter.
Thank you very much for your answer. I like the idea of using a couple of chariots as a unit, and some skirmishers even(to add flavour, and aesthetically pleasing). CP make 6 spearmen, and the axemen they sell could be converted to spearmen easylly, even some of the skirmishers could do as non helmeted warriors with spears as well.
Meant to add if using 1 chariot and Royal Guard(6 figures). That gives total of 1 chariot and 42 foot. These rules allow nice chariot period battles without big outlay. Hope they prove popular as future Armies like Mitanni and Early Assyrian are not off the table if the 28mm Sumerian do very well.
That is a cool battle cart. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteVery, very impressive, Colin. Always a pleasure to view your work.
ReplyDeleteTop notch job for this superb unit...Excellent!!
ReplyDeleteExcellent work Colin! I'm quite tempted by this Sumerian King and chariot.
ReplyDeleteThanks guys. Really enjoyed painting this up.
ReplyDeleteCyrus. This model would look great as great king in your army.
Nice!
